Oak Park Varsity Eagles Hold Off Oxnard for Victory
Despite seeing their 5-run lead whittled down by the end, Oak Park Varsity Eagles still held off for a 5-4 victory on Tuesday. Oxnard closed the gap by scoring on a tag up, a single, a pop out, and a fielder’s choice.
A single by Andrew Rosen put Oak Park Varsity Eagles on the board in the top of the first.
David Wan earned the win for Oak Park Varsity Eagles. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out one and walking two. #18 took the loss for Oxnard. The starting pitcher went four innings, giving up three runs (one earned) on three hits, striking out three and walking one. Mason Tannous collected the save. William Malinzak appeared in relief for Oak Park Varsity Eagles.
Tyler Kutsch led Oak Park Varsity Eagles with two hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Luke Sater, Rosen, Ryan Kobayashi, and Kutsch each drove in one run for Oak Park Varsity Eagles.
#3, #15, and #30 each drove in one run for Oxnard. #15 went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Oxnard in hits.
