Oak Park Varsity Eagles could not keep pace with Moorpark Varsity Musketeers 9-6 on Wednesday.

Moorpark Varsity Musketeers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after AJ Mai hit a sacrifice fly, Derek Nickels singled down the left field line, and Leon Chavez singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.

Oak Park Varsity Eagles flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 5-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a walk by Tyler Kutsch that drove in one.

Nickels homered to left field, which helped Moorpark Varsity Musketeers tie the game at six in the bottom of the fifth.

Luke Sate scored after tagging up, which helped Oak Park Varsity Eagles tie the game at one in the top of the second.

In the bottom of the second, Moorpark Varsity Musketeers broke up the tie when Cameron Johnson tripled, scoring two runs. Then a triple by Taylor Busch followed to extend the lead 5-1.

Jackson Weir started on the bump for Oak Park Varsity Eagles. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and four runs (three earned) over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one. Oak Park Varsity Eagles fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-5 loss to Moorpark Musketeers on Wednesday. Moorpark Musketeers took the lead on a walk in the first inning.

Moorpark Musketeers got on the board in the first inning when Greg Lareva drew a walk, scoring one run.

Oak Park Varsity Eagles put up five runs in the sixth inning. Oak Park Varsity Eagles batters contributing to the big inning included Andrew Rosen, Jared Cornick, Jackson Weir, and David Wan, who all drove in runs.

Moorpark Musketeers scored eight runs in the third inning. Zack Serup, Lareva, Junior Stillwagon, Carson Cerny, Happy Edwards, and Matthew Ramirez powered the big inning with RBIs.

Cerny was on the pitcher’s mound for Moorpark Musketeers. The pitcher surrendered four runs on six hits over five and a third innings, striking out nine and walking zero.

Oak Park Frosh/Soph Eagles couldn’t keep up with Moorpark Musketeers and fell 14-2 on Wednesday.

Moorpark Musketeers pulled away for good with eight runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Robert Ceballos singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Gio Maroney singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Lincoln Hamm drew a walk, scoring one run, Evan Brady doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs, Lucas Buckler singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs, and Jonathan Real doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Tanner Stotts led things off on the hill for Moorpark Musketeers. Stotts allowed three hits and two runs over four innings, striking out four.

Noah Goodheart toed the rubber for Oak Park Frosh/Soph Eagles. Goodheart lasted three innings, allowing 11 hits and nine runs while striking out two. Porter Nicoll threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.
