Oak Park Varsity Eagles Go Down On Final Play Against Oxnard Yellowjackets

Oak Park Varsity Eagles fell to Oxnard Yellowjackets 9-8 on Friday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at eight in the bottom of the twelfth when Carlos Rodriguez was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.

Oak Park Varsity Eagles lost despite out-hitting Oxnard Yellowjackets 16 to 10. Henry Rizzotti led Oak Park Varsity Eagles with five hits.

Oak Park Varsity Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning after Rizzotti doubled down the left field line, and Tyler Kutsch hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring two runs.

Oxnard Yellowjackets tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a triple by Noah Guzman, and an error.

Oak Park Varsity Eagles took the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Rizzotti doubled down the left field line, and Kutsch singled to center field, each scoring one run.

Jerry Gonzales doubled down the left field line following a 8-pitch at-bat, which helped Oxnard Yellowjackets tie the game at seven in the bottom of the seventh.

A single by Max Brusca gave Oak Park Varsity Eagles the lead, 8-7, in the top of the twelfth.

Oxnard Yellowjackets captured the lead, 9-8, in the bottom of the twelfth after Eric Gonzalez laid down a sacrifice bunt, and Rodriguez was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run.

Rizzotti stepped on the mound first for Oak Park Varsity Eagles. The hurler surrendered five hits and four runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out two and walking two. Rodriguez led things off on the mound for Oxnard Yellowjackets. The starting pitcher surrendered nine hits and six runs (four earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking none.
