Oak Park Varsity Eagles Fall to Camarillo Varsity Scorpions After Surrending Big Second Inning

Camarillo Varsity Scorpions defeated Oak Park Varsity Eagles 13-1 on Friday thanks in part to eight runs in the second inning.

Camarillo Varsity Scorpions jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Jacob Lovato grounded out, scoring one run, Trotter Enright tripled, scoring three runs, Tommy Goodin singled, scoring one run, David Wan induced Boston Bateman to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, an error scored one run, and Brayden Smith grounded out, scoring one run.

Camarillo Varsity Scorpians added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Enright tripled, and Goodin doubled, each scoring one run.

Nick Tostado earned the win for Camarillo Varsity Scorpions. The reliever allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out 10 and walking three. Wan took the loss for Oak Park Varsity Eagles. The right-handed pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, giving up 10 runs (eight earned) on eight hits, striking out one and walking two. Bateman started on the mound for Camarillo Varsity Scorpions. The starting pitcher allowed zero hits and zero runs over two innings, striking out five and walking two.

Jackson Weir, Henry Rizzotti, and Jadon Holmes each collected one hit for Oak Park Varsity Eagles. Arron Helfstein led the team with one run batter in.

Camarillo Varsity Scorpions piled up 12 hits in the game. Smith led Camarillo Varsity Scorpions with three hits in five at bats. Enright led Camarillo Varsity Scorpions with four runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-3 on the day. Blaise Meylemans and Goodin each collected multiple hits for Camarillo Varsity Scorpions. Camarillo Varsity Scorpions were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single erro. Meylemans had the most chances in the field with 14.
