Oak Park Varsity Eagles Lose To Moorpark Varsity Musketeers

Oak Park Varsity Eagles could not keep pace with Moorpark Varsity Musketeers 9-6 on Wednesday.

Moorpark Varsity Musketeers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after AJ Mai hit a sacrifice fly, Derek Nickels singled down the left field line, and Leon Chavez singled down the right field line, each scoring one run.

Oak Park Varsity Eagles flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring five runs on four hits to take the lead, 5-3. The biggest blow in the inning was a walk by Tyler Kutsch that drove in one.

Nickels homered to left field, which helped Moorpark Varsity Musketeers tie the game at six in the bottom of the fifth.

In the bottom of the sixth, Moorpark Varsity Musketeers broke up the tie when #27 singled, scoring two runs. Then a walk by Nickels followed to extend the lead to 9-6.

Henry Rizzotti opened the game for Oak Park Varsity Eagles. The starting pitcher allowed six hits and four runs over four innings, striking out one and walking one. Tanner Stotts started on the hill for Moorpark Varsity Musketeers. The right-handed pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out one and walking one.

Rizzotti and Cyrus Javadi were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Oak Park Varsity Eagles while hitting back-to-back. Rizzotti drove the middle of the lineup, leading Oak Park Varsity Eagles with two runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-3 on the day. Max Brusca paced Oak Park Varsity Eagles with three walks.
