Oak Park Varsity Eagles Defeats St. Monica Academy Despite Allowing 3-Run Inning

Even though Oak Park Varsity Eagles gave up three runs in the sixth inning, they still defeated St. Monica Academy 12-3 on Wednesday. Alex Rosenberger, Seamus Collins, and Dan Yumbar each had RBIs in the frame.

Oak Park Varsity Eagles secured the victory thanks to eight runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught came from singles by Ian Schack and Ryan Kobayashi, an error on a ball put in play by Luke Sater and Landon Holmes, and a double by Griffin Hurley.

In the first inning, Oak Park Varsity Eagles got their offense started. Holmes’s sac fly scored one run for Oak Park Varsity Eagles.

Oak Park Varsity Eagles notched eight runs in the third inning. Oak Park Varsity Eagles’s offense in the inning came from singles by Schack and Kobayashi, an error on a ball put in play by Sater and Holmes, and a double by Hurley.

John Pemberton got the start for Oak Park Varsity Eagles. Pemberton allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out six and walking zero.

Leon Grimm toed the rubber for St. Monica Academy. The bulldog allowed five hits and ten runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two. Michael Short and Collins entered the game from the bullpen, throwing one and one-third innings and one inning respectively.

Oak Park Varsity Eagles racked up ten hits. Kobayashi, Gavin Manzo, and Schack each racked up multiple hits for Oak Park Varsity Eagles. Kobayashi led Oak Park Varsity Eagles with three hits in three at bats.

Eluah Halpin went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead St. Monica Academy in hits.
