In Walk-off, Oak Park Eagles Loses To Mission Prep

A walk-off left Oak Park Eagles on the wrong end of a 12-11 defeat to Mission Prep on Wednesday. Mission Prep trailed 11-10 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Nicholas Bender homered on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

Despite the loss, Oak Park Eagles did collect five hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Mission Prep had nine hits on the way to victory.

Mission Prep took an early lead in the second inning when Townsend’s sac fly scored one run for Mission Prep.

Oak Park Eagles tallied five runs in the third inning. The big inning was thanks to doubles by Jonathan McDermott and Tony Barbello, a walk by Aiden Cass, and a groundout by Ryan Ulmen.

Mission Prep scored four runs in the fourth inning. The big inning for Mission Prep came thanks to a sacrifice fly by Hiltbrand and a home run by Sison.

Townsend earned the win for Mission Prep. Townsend allowed zero hits and two runs over three innings, striking out two. DiLuera threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Valor Castroll took the loss for Oak Park Eagles. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out four.

Bender started the game for Mission Prep. The bulldog lasted three innings, allowing four hits and seven runs while striking out two Ryan Weiss started the game for Oak Park Eagles. Weiss allowed two hits and four runs over two innings, striking out three

Oak Park Eagles smacked one home run on the day. Weiss had a long ball in the fourth inning.

Weiss went 2-for-5 at the plate to lead Oak Park Eagles in hits.

Mission Prep racked up nine hits in the game. Townsend and Ozmina each managed multiple hits for Mission Prep. Townsend led Mission Prep with three hits in four at bats.
